London, September 14
Pak-based Kashmir website kashmirwatch.com has come into the
international limelight owing to an extensive coverage of the
turbulent turnaround of events in Kashmir over the last few months.
Kashmir Watch owned and edited by Abdul Latif Bhat, a Kashmiri
journalist, based now in Pakistan, gives an overall insight into the
Kashmir issue besides covering the latest developments that take place
in the beleaguered valley.
Following the June 2008 pro-freedom protests and uprising against
India, Kashmir issue is back in the international media headlines.
United Kingdom is most debated place for Kashmir issue as nearly six
hundred thousand people of Kashmiri origin, mostly hailing from Azad
Jammu & Kashmir, reside here. The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), a
conglomerate of more than four hundred Muslim organisations from all
parts of Britain, including Northern Ireland, has shown concern in a
statement about the worsening scenario in Kashmir. Dr Muhammad Abdul
Bari, Secretary General MCB said "MCB expresses grave concern about
the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian and political situation in
Kashmir and urges the government of India to immediately lift the
curfew and the economic blockade" While calling upon the Government of
India to allow the people of Kashmir to exercise their democratic
rights to assembly and free speech Bari said "India should withdraw
its troops from all civilian areas of Kashmir and recognise, respect
and implement the wishes of the people of Kashmir" MCB has also placed
a logo of Kashmir Watch news portal on the front-page on its official
website-www.mcb.org.uk that allows the readers to click the 'Latest on
Kashmir'.
