IIUI holds ceremony for Integrated Encyclopedia of the Qu’ran
Encyclopedia to have Seven volumes spread over 5000 pages

The International Islamic University,
Islamabad (IIUI) in collaboration with Society for the Qur’anic
Studies arranged a ceremony to introduce Integrated Encyclopedia of
the Qur’an under the slogan of “West No More! We are Alive” at its new
campus on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest Professor Fateh Muhammad
Malik, Rector IIUI said that the Muslims are lacking far behind others
in research and quality education. It is a hard reality that non
Muslim scholars were pioneers in even Qur’anic research. Professor
Malik however appreciated efforts of Dr. Muzaffar Iqal and Society for
the Qur’anic Studies and Center of Islam and Science Canada for
initiating the Integrated Encyclopedia of the Qur’an Project. He hoped
that this project would pave way for other scholars to follow the
pattern and enhance their research on modern footings.
Dr. Muzaffar Iqbal in his speech said that the anti Muslim Western
scholars /Orientalists funded by agencies of different Western
governments and some private financiers were in forefront of research
on Islam. However they were generally distorting the true face of
Islam. Dr. Muzaffar Said that keeping in view this situation, Society
for the Qur’anic Studies was established in Canada which undertook
this project of Integrated Encyclopedia of the Qur’an. He added that
the Encyclopedia would consist of seven volumes containing over 660
articles spread over approximately 5,000 pages. Muslim scholars from
all over the Muslim world as well as from the Western world having
academic qualifications and internationally accepted research /
Publications have been carefully selected to contribute to this noble
venture Dr. Muzaffar Iqbal concluded. The introductory ceremony was
also addressed by Dr. Zafar Ishaq Ansari, Vice President IIUI and
other scholars. Commitments of donations for the project were also
made on the occasion.
It is worth mentioning that this encyclopedia project has been started
by the society for Qur’anic studies under the guidance of Dr. Muzaffar
Iqbal, founder president of Center of Islam and Science, Calgary,
Canada as its General Editor. Its associate editors include Dr. Afifi
