WE STRONGLY CONDEMN THE STOPPAGE OF GEO IN PAKISTAN - PTI UK Coordinator Rabia Zia.
March 13 2009 - PTI UK strongly condemns the ban put on GEO in Pakistan. This is a cowardly & an undemocratic act and a repeat of events that took place under the Musharraf dictatorship in 2007 where media was one of the main targets of the military government. This is another example of the PPP government being a 'civilian dictatorship'.

It is clear that the PPP Government has not learnt any lessons from what happened to Musharraf & his dictatorship & is following the same policies.
The Zardari government is obviously scared of the impact of the Long march and the media which has so far played a key role in keeping peoples spirits high and revealing the governments deceit, contradictions and lies. The Zardari government is continuing with its illegal arrests, beatings, harassments, ram-shacking offices and this has now transcended to the attack on media. The government believes that by blocking the media it will hinder the Long March and change people's perceptions however the people of Pakistan are now fully aware of the truth and the broken promises of the government and the banning of media is just another nail in the coffin for the current 'civilian dictatorship'.
The people of Pakistan want "Insaf" and an independent judiciary including the restoration of the Chief Justice Iftekhar Chaudhry and nothing will stop the people from this demand as only then can Pakistan prosper as a lawful sovereign state which will bring all the corrupt people to trial including the corrupt leaders.
We hope that at least some factions within the PPP government realize the folly of banning the media and that they allow GEO to resume transmission.

its a cowardly act in one way but if you think about it. geo is the only news channel thats international, do you really think the world NEEDS to know about our internal matters?
