Housing units funds raising in Earthquake area AJK

Funds raising Campaign for construction of five housing units
in Earthquake area of Azad Kashmir

Sir/Madam!
Hope that this will find you in good health and spirits for
serving humanity at large. You are well aware of the fact that a large
area of Azad Kashmir (AJK) and NWFP was severely damaged by the 2005
Earthquake. A large number of people died, thousands were injured and
thousands rendered homeless. Government and non-government agencies
helped them a lot. However it remains a fact that some people in some
areas are still living in shelters. Despite government claims and
NGOs’ help they were unable to construct their houses even often a
lapse of 3½ years. Reasons are many. For example, I personally know
some families who spent whole amounts given by Earthquake
Rehabilitation & Reconstruction Authority (ERRA) to them on medical
treatment of their wards/sons/daughters etc.

Now, after more than three years of the 2005 Earthquake they are
still homeless and even jobless. I have seen some of them gravely
disappointed from their lives as they are unable to earn their
livelihoods.

You will agree that those amongst us who have been blessed by
God, have a responsibility to alleviate their grievances. We should
not leave them to live a life devoid of hope. I feel honoured to
submit this application to your goodself to kindly consider it for
financial help of those people. I am enclosing two letters from two
leading personalities just to certify my credentials. I have
undertaken this just to help some of people in my very limited
capacity. I am focusing on construction of five housing units in my
native area at the cost of Rs. 15,00,000/- (Rupees one and half
million only) i.e Rs.3,00,000/- (Rupees three hundred thousands only)
per unit. Please note that I am also contributing from my very meager
salary but it is not sufficient due to present inflation and price
hike.

Here is cost estimate of a very small housing unit in Azad
Kashmirs’ Earthquake Zone as per requirements and standards approved
by ERRA.

Size of House (Two Rooms): 15x15 Feet along with a kitchen and a
bath
Cost of Construction: Rs.3,00,000/- (Rupees three hundred thousands
only) per unite(If the Land was provided by the owner and family members worked in
person in the construction of the house.)

Completion Deadline: June 30, 2009 as after that construction is
being stopped by the ERRA.

You are very humbly requested to come forward and render whatever
assistance you can.

You may send your donations through cheque or draft to me in
person. I just assure you that your money will go to needy persons and
you will be requested to visit this area and see construction work
going on.

Regards
