Turkish President Calls President Zardari

Turkish President Abdullah Gul telephoned President Asif Ali Zardari Monday afternoon.  The two discussed bilateral ties and issues relating to forthcoming Friends of Democratic Pakistan Summit in New York. Spokesperson to the President former Senator Farhatullah Babar said that President Asif Ali Zardari also talked about the need for starting a high speed cargo train from Pakistan to Turkey as a means to boost trade and commerce. The Turkish President said that he will ask Turkish experts to examine the proposal.President Abdullah Gul also invited President Zardari to the Nov 9 summit of the Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of OIC(COMCEC) in Istanbul.  The summit is being held to commemorate twenty five years of the COMCEC as the OIC body to promote economic and commercial cooperation between member countries. President Zardari thanked the Turkish President for the lead role played by Turkey in helping Pakistan to further the FoDP initiative.
